The purpose of the Hampton business license is to regulate business activity which occurs or is transacted within the Hampton town limits in order to protect the health, safety and welfare of the people of the town and to generate revenue for the town. All businesses of any kind, including businesses located outside the town limits of Hampton, shall obtain a business license if such person, firm, corporation or association engages in any business activity within the Hampton town limits.
Please note that if you are applying for a new business license for a local business and will be moving into a building, you will also be require to complete an occupancy permit application, this can be found under the building permits section of the portal.
The Building division is responsible for ensuring new construction and existing buildings meet adopted Building and Town Codes. The Building staff is responsible for plan review and field inspections on construction projects to verify compliance with applicable uniform codes along with the enforcement of Town and land use regulations.
